Within Information Technology there are many different specialties that individuals can choose from when entering the field, or through the natural course of career progression. Some of which are:

• Help Desk Technician

• Systems Administrator

• Network Engineer

• Software Engineer

• Database Administrator

• Cybersecurity Engineer

• Cloud Architect

• Data Analyst

Many of these different career pathways are built upon the same fundamental knowledge held within the field. Eventually, a more focused career is often selected, where people build a more specialized set of skills in order to become subject matter experts in a subset of Information Technology.

The purpose of this Knowledge Lodge is to help others begin, develop, advance, and expand their current knowledge in the Information Technology field. The vast majority of categories that information is broken out into are aligned with common industry certifications in order to develop a well-formatted structure for individuals to find the material they wish to learn about.*
